STIMULATE

We are developing the medical technology of tomorrow.


In interdisciplinary teams from clinic, industry and science, we research and develop solutions and technologies for image-guided minimally invasive medicine.
Our aim are innovative, patient-friendly, high-quality and specifically required diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for diseases in oncology, neurology and cardiology. To this end, clinicians define the need and interdisciplinary teams research and develop customised solutions that are tested and integrated into patient treatment.
Our vision is to improve healthcare of today and tomorrow as a research and innovation centre for image-based medicine.

The public-private partnership is formed by Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, Siemens Healthineers AG and the STIMULATE Association with over 40 members from the medical technology industry and science.

Scientific Exchange

From research to application: intensive exchange with Bundeswehr radiology in Koblenz

As part of a professional exchange, PD Dr Stephan Waldeck, Director of the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology and Neuroradiology at the Bundeswehr Central Hospital in Koblenz, visited the Research Campus STIMULATE at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, the start-ups and also the IPHAM (Institute for Public Health in Acute Medicine) on the Wissenschaftshafen campus.

Where Coding meets Healthcare

Python programming course for (medical) students. Since May 2024, learn free of charge and independent of time in order to later be able to implement applications for processing large amounts of data in medicine. 23.04. - Girls & Boys Day

On National Career Orientation Day, 30 schoolgirls will gain insights into the medical technology industry, medical technology courses at OVGU and current fields of research at the research campus. transPORT is offering a socio-cultural programme at Wissenschaftshafen Magdeburg for a group of schoolchildren.

27.04. - STIMULATE forum

On Monday, 27 April, the next STIMULATE forum will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in hybrid form – on site in Building 82, Room 120, and via the cloud meeting service ‘Zoom’. 05.05. - STIMULATE at Medtech live in Stuttgart

This year, STIMULATE will be at its own exhibition stand at Medtech Live to provide information on the latest research in interventional imaging and to network.

09.05. - University Open Day

At the Open Day at OVGU, STIMULATE will be presenting the two medical technology degree programmes – the ‘Bachelor’s in Medical Technology’ and the ‘Master’s in Medical Systems Engineering’ – and will be happy to answer any questions about the programmes.

19.05. - Campus Pitch Medical Technology

Join the Campus Pitch MedTech at STIMULATE, where companies meet students to exchange ideas, explore career opportunities, and spark future innovations in medical technology.

06.06. - LNDW Tomorrow Labs at the Science Harbour

Insights into science at the Research Campus STIMULATE with exciting experiments, laboratory tours and hands-on activities for the general public. Programme to follow.

Save the date: Join the transPORT Harbor Conference on July 7, 2026 at STIMULATE to engage in dialogue on innovative transfer formats connecting society, industry, and science.

09.08. – Summer School

To mark the OVGU’s ‘Urban Utopia’ Summer School, the Research Campus STIMULATE is opening its laboratory doors to give international students an insight into research in interventional imaging, as well as the medical technology degree programmes and further career opportunities within the STIMULATE network.
