Girls‘ Day und Zukunftstag am Forschungscampus
Am 27.04.2023 besuchten 60 Schülerinnen und Schüler den Forschungscampus STIMULATE, um sich über verschiedene Berufe und Karrierechancen in der Medizintechnik zu informieren. Während eines Laborrundgangs durch den Forschungscampus hatten die Schülerinnen und Schüler die Möglichkeit, Mitarbeitende nach ihren Berufswegen und zu ihrem Arbeitsalltag zu befragen. Dabei wurde klar, dass die Medizintechnik ein sehr vielseitiges und zukunftsorientiertes Berufsfeld ist.
Der Laborrundgang begann im Trackinglabor, wo ein Informatiker seine Forschungsarbeiten zu virtuellen Operationstechniken vorstellte. Die Schulgruppen nutzten dabei rege die Chance, sich mit den 3D-Brillen im virtuellen Operationsraum umzuschauen. Eine Schülerin war besonders begeistert, dass „Die Technik aus Computerspielen für die Verbesserung von Operationen genutzt wird. Und man so etwas als Beruf machen kann“. Weiter ging es zu dem MRT-Labor und dem Angiographie-Labor, wo ein Doktorand der Medizintechnik und ein promivierter Physiker den Aufbau und die Funktionsweise von Magnetresonanztomographen und Computertomographen erklärten. Die beiden Wissenschaftler erzählten dabei auch, wie sie den beruflichen Weg in die Medizintechnik gefunden haben und beantworteten gerne die interessierten Nachfragen. Abschließend gab es Einblicke in den Ultraschall-Raum, wo die Schulgruppen auf Studierende des Medizintechnik-Bachelor- und Masterstudiengangs trafen. Während die Schülerinnen und Schüler kleine Experimente zur Medizintechnik durchführen konnten, erzählten die Studierenden vom Unialltag. Teil des Rundgangs war auch der Austausch mit den beiden Koordinatoren der Medizintechnikstudiengänge, die darüber informierten, welche Voraussetzungen man für das Studium mitbringen sollte, wie das Studium abläuft und, was man mit den Abschlüssen später machen kann.
Wir sind gespannt darauf, ob wir das ein oder andere Gesicht am Forschungscampus wiedersehen. Vielleicht ja schon schneller als gedacht, zur Langen Nacht der Wissenschaft am 03.06.2023.
Girls' Day and Future Day at the Research Campus
On April 27, 2023, 60 students visited the Research Campus STIMULATE to learn about various professions and career opportunities in the field of medical technology. During a lab tour of the Research Campus, the students had the opportunity to ask employees about their career paths and everyday work life. It became clear that medical technology is a very versatile and future-oriented professional field.
The lab tour began in the tracking lab, where a computer scientist presented his research on virtual surgical techniques. The school groups made lively use of the opportunity to look around the virtual operating room with 3D glasses. One student was particularly enthusiastic about the fact that “technology from computer games is being used to improve operations. And you can do something like this as a profession”. The tour continued to the MRI lab and the angiography lab, where a medical technology doctoral student and a physicist with a PhD explained the setup and function of magnetic resonance tomograph and computer tomograph. The two scientists also explained how they found their way into medical technology and were happy to answer interested questions. Finally, there were insights into the ultrasound room, where the school groups met students from the medical technology bachelor's and master's programs. While the students were able to perform small experiments on medical technology, the students talked about everyday life at the university. Part of the tour was also an exchange with the two coordinators of the medical technology programs, who provided information about the prerequisites one should have for the studies, how the studies proceed and what one can do later with the degrees.
We are curious to see if we will see one or the other face at the Research Campus again. Maybe sooner than expected, at the Long Night of Science in Magdeburg on June 3, 2023.
